Pirates Review

I had two viewings of the film and I must say it was quite enjoyable. There is not wiz bang start and I have heard complaints about that, but this is Pirates not Star Wars. The fight scenes are there the love scenes are filled with tension and fights. Watch what happens when miss Swan kisses someone. :)

What I love about films with a fan base, are the people that show up in costume. I went to the downtown cinema and there was one girl in a brocade jacket but the next night I went out to Silver City and there was a group of costumed players. Jack (really good, spotted the walk right off, Elizabeth, Will and Barbosa, Norrington. Turns out this group is advertising for the Victoria Pirate Festival 2008. On top of that they've made a few fan films that can all be seen at Potc-Vids or below.

Back to the film... well worth admission, and stay to the very end to see the after trailer scene.

Heroes Wrap up

Tim Kring's Live blog at NBC has some wrap-up words from himself and Hayden Panettiere. Will anyone from the show be at Comic-Con? Tin said, "Yes. Everybody we can bring will come that day." to which Hayden asked, "How will we get there? The hot bus with no air conditioning from last year?" Tim replied, "The train I took is really the way to go."
Hayden, "You mean everyone was stuck on a bus and you took the train?"

"In all seriousness, the thing about Comic-Con is that it was very instrumental in launching the show, so this year is a big thank you to them when we come back. We'll have a big event with lots of things to hand out. " said Tim.

Tim also let slip that Chapter 2 will not fill the hole season, we will see Chapter 3 somewhere around mid season. I predict the return from the x-mas break.

Local Film company wins prestigious award!

Cedarwood Productions are delighted to announce that they have been awarded a Bronze Remi award at the Houston WorldFest International Film Festival for their short comedy / drama film The Touchtone Affair. The film was shot and made in Victoria, from a script by talented Vancouver writer Darren Williams and starring actors Michael John Unger and Stacey Lynn Mitchell. The film also featured our very own A-Channel newscasters Erick Thomson and Jordan Cunningham acting as police officers brandishing guns - a role the public don't normally see them in!
The local creative team included Producer Karen Davies, Director and Editor Dai Davies and DOP Robin Miller.

Houston WorldFest is the third oldest film festival in North America, with an outstanding reputation and this year it attracted over 4,500 entries from all over the world.

Lost Boys 2 in Van

Warner Bros. has finally set up production of The Lost Boys sequel in Vancouver.
The 1987 original was a cult classic that firmed the working relationship of the Corey's (Haim and Feldman) and set Keifer Sutherland on the road to stardom. This direct-to-DVD film is working under the the title The Lost Boys 2 - The Tribe and it is unknown if any of the original cast will make so much as a guest appearance, but the Corey's did just finish making a crappy reality series in Vancouver.
